The trials in the bridge didn't conclude with its somber inauguration. Even the bridge was blown when: all through WWII, the retreating German troops blew up each of the bridges of Budapest in 1945. Luckily, the reconstruction went quickly plus the recently-built, somewhat wider Chain Bridge reopened in 1949, over the one centesimal anniversary of
